I love the versatility and beauty of this file cabinet! I love that I can customize the hanging files to suit my needs. It also has a locking mechanism for safety (so it won’t tip over). It was definitely a challenge to set up (my engineer friend and I took about an hour with the two of us to set it up), but TOTALLY worth it! Everything came together perfectly, and it really enhances the look of my home office. I am sooooo excited about this purchase!

First of all, this is engineered wood, not solid wood. The bottom of the drawers and the back of the cabinet are particle board. For the price, it is pretty enough, and functional. However, you cannot fit two rows of letter size folders front to back – you can have one front to back, with the others sideways (see video). You can move the center rail to accommodate legal size going front to back, and letter sideways. The actual inside dimensions are 22.5 inches long, 12 inches wide and 9.25 inches deep (inside). The drawer depth is less than the front panel depth. When I close the door, the mechanism that prevents both doors from being opened at the same time clicks, and if I stop pushing the cabinet in at that point, the door is flush with the sides, but sticks out at the top and bottom. You give it one more push and it is where it should be located. I tried showing this in the video, and two photos. The rails are plastic. One thing that concerns me is that the front door is attached to the drawer pieces with a plastic part – see photo of inside drawer corner. My father says plastic can be strong. Time will tell. The drawers do come with one stop for each drawer, to prevent them from coming all the way out. The drawers open easily, and the drawer sliders (rails) are all metal. They are greased, so I got some grease on me during assembly. Had to wash my hands several times to prevent grease from getting on the cabinet while I put on the drawer sliders. One pleasant surprise is that the unit comes with one furniture anchor (see photo with orange bag), that has one zip tie and a butterfly (?) bolt. Because it is engineered wood, one of the side front posts already is damaged. I have contacted the manufacturer for a replacement, which was sent quickly. I didn’t use glue where the dowels are placed (the instructions don’t say to use glue); therefore, I was able to take it apart again and replace the damaged front leg without having to remove the back; but I did have to take out both drawers. You must be very careful not to damage the wood while assembling the cabinet. The assembly instructions were pretty clear, and they have about 3 online YouTube videos to watch assembly of the cam and bolts. I am familiar with using this type of connections, so assembly was pretty straight forward. It lacks advice about keeping the slide rails straight, so I used a square (not included), and there is a little room for error here. If you keep the rails square, the drawers are pretty level when done. I used a level (not included) to get the front drawers into alignment- I only had to adjust the bottom drawer by about 1/8 or less inches on one side. You adjust by unscrewing the plastic part (see photo), moving the front panel slightly, and tightening the screws again. As for the color, I am disappointed. There is a photo of the color of the cabinet, but it’s actually darker than the photo shows. It has a lot of black, and is very dark. It’s not the color I wanted. The color I wanted is a more red- ish color. Overall, it’s nice enough for the price, and I will use it. It leaves me wanting a real all solid wood cabinet, one that is a different color – bright red Cherry and one that is longer, so you can have 2 rows of files front to back. From advice I have seen, people recommend that you do not paint engineered wood, because it can’t be sanded.

Great cabinet. Attractive and not too difficult to build. Love that you access files from the side, makes them far easier to get at.

It’s a small project to assemble this, but the instructions are good (just pay close attention to the pictures, as some pieces appear interchangeable but they’re not). It’s all particle board, which is expected at this price, so I wouldn’t suggest it for an office or home office where it will get a fair amount of use, but for light home use it’s fine. Plus, it doubles as a printer stand 🙂 It looks nice, and the drawer slides are sturdy with ball bearings. The back is not finished; fine against a wall. I’m happy with it for what I needed.

The directions are fair, there are a lot of parts. I bought two and 1st took 50 minutes to assemble but 2nd took 25. Parts are labeled with long numbers why not A,B,C and illustrations could be clearer for drawer glide direction and a few other parts. Once assembled the cabinets are solid and don’t wobble at all. I didn’t install the anti-tip that prevents both drawers being opened at the same time because of the video with the clicking sound but no kids ever come in my office. Drawers line up perfectly with some common sense adjustments if needed during assembly.

Great quality- excellent amount of storage. Easy to put together. Looks great alone or with the set. Great piece.

The only thing I don’t like about this is the loud clicking noise the anti-tipping thingee makes when you open the drawers. It’s well made. I put it together all by myself (even though it says in some parts that you should have a “team”). The instructions are perfect all the way up until you have to take the drawer pulls off and screw them on the drawers themselves. I had to watch the video because it doesn’t tell you what to do. Other than that the instructions are super easy to follow.

Serves a purpose, lots of room for files and is a nice piece of furniture. It was easy to put together – my husband did it. It arrived as scheduled.
