Assembly was not difficult, but a little time consuming. I didn’t find the instructions confusing at all. If you’ve ever put furniture together yourself, this is no better and no worse, no easier and no more difficult. As for the item itself: it’s cheap. Boards are thin. I can’t stand the “cam lock” method of holding furniture together. Not all of the holes were drilled correctly, so some of the cam locks don’t lock. It is not sturdy. It gives the impression of sturdy, but it’s not. It is a wobbly cheap piece of furniture until you put the plastic corner braces on the back at the end, and then it becomes a not-wobbly cheap piece of furniture. The only thing that gives this unit the appearance of sturdiness are those plastic pieces on the back, held in with short, small screws. This item is not built to last. If you don’t use it or move it a lot, it’s probably fine. If you are in and out of the drawers daily, or move the unit frequently, I would look elsewhere. Bush and Sauder are doing it better, if more expensive. I probably wouldn’t be so harsh if this item cost me $29.99, but it didn’t.

I’ve put a thousand of these sort of things together in my lifetime and this was among the best. Except for IKEA, I’d say this was the best and most sturdy. The instructions were OK but could be better; I had to re-do part of it because some unclear instructions. That said, the value of what you get for the price is really good. But the best part was the unexpected level of customer service I received. The handles on my unit would not screw in properly. So I followed the instructions to email customer service not expecting much. But to my surprise, I received a response within 48 hours and they took care of everything to my satisfaction. They even had to politely bug me to get back to them so they could fix my problem – THEY followed up with ME! I’d buy from them again.

Over all I give the piece good marks for fit and finish. Assembly could have been easier but once it’s completed you have a good piece of furniture.
Good: Good looking sturdy unit. Plenty of extra hardware provided. Well packed and protected for shipping. Assembly instructions were good and easy to follow.
Bad: Assembly was not as easy as it should have been. The capture bolts are poorly cast and there was considerable difficulty getting them to capture the actual posts which left a couple just not as secure as I would have liked. The dowel pins were a bit of a pain to seat and caused poor fit until fiddled with. I’ve put together dozens of this type of furniture over the years and this piece was reminiscent of the assembly quality 20-years ago. Eventually everything went together just fine, but…

So for a long time I was looking for a filing cabinet that also had some type of storage on it but nothing too big because I have a very small bedroom, I finally found this on Amazon so I went through the reviews and seemed pretty good for the most part so I gave it a try. I’m really glad that I did because it fits perfectly next to my dresser in the corner and has just enough room for all my personal stuff, there’s only two small things about it, I wish it was slightly taller and it personally took me way longer to build with and most of the reviews mentioned, I saw that it took most people about two hours but it actually took me four hours, now I do have to mention that I did it all by myself so no one helped and I did it while taking my time watching TV so I was probably going much slower than most, also for the most part the instructions are pretty good but there were a couple of parts that confused me causing me to set it up wrong two different times then having to take it apart to fix it which set me back a bit. The hardest part for me was the metal sliders that the drawers and the filing cabinet go onto, it took me a while to figure out how they go on but once everything was coming together it became kind of easy. So overall as long as you have time and patience than I would definitely recommend this but if you get frustrated easily then you’ll be better off buying something that’s already put together.

When I opened the box, I almost cried. So many parts. Assembly looked impossible. Still, the instructions were straightforward, step by step. It took five hours (I’m slow) to assemble, but in the end, it looked just like its picture, and the drawers opened and closed effortlessly. I have a very heavy color laser printer/scanner on top, and the sturdy unit is holding it just fine. All in all, we are very pleased. The only tool needed was a Phillips head screwdriver. Hint — an electric screwdriver would have eased and sped up the assembly.
