I bought this to hold seasonal mugs above our coffee cart. I didn’t have high hopes since there were no amazon reviews but these exceeded my expectations in most aspects.
The instructions didn’t specify the size drill bit needed, but I used a 3/16th inch drill bit and the holes worked out just fine. I originally used a 5/32 but it was slightly too small.
Some things to note: * The shelves themselves are really lightweight, but do seem to be made of some type of wood (the weight makes me want to say balsa, but the wood seems too strong to be balsa wood). * The mounting holes are symmetrical vertically, so I believe you could probably mount these upside down if you like that look better. * There is a bit of adjusting needed once you get the screws into the wall, you need to back them off or screw them in a little bit at a time until you get the gap at the back of the shelf just right so that it is snug and not loose on the wall.

I used this product in my bathroom. I was planning to use this on a cascade effect running down the side in my bathroom and place small nicknacks on. Upon receiving this item I noticed that these don’t really have the stability to hold very much. I mistakenly thought that these were one complete piece of wood but it’s two pieces that are connected so if you put too much weight it’s only a matter of time before it will snap.
It took me about 2 months to end up what to do with them and didn’t automatically return them because they look beautiful and were inexpensive. I decided to put two side by side above my toilet paper roll. I had tried many different options for a new toilet paper roller option. The ones that have extra storage and a shelf but had returned everything and decided to use these for that project. Really only need them to hold a few extra rolls in my tight bathroom. They are sturdy enough for this task but wouldn’t put much more weight than that on this.

This is perfect for what I needed it for, however I had to drill to holes on the opposite side, because the holes in the back did not make it secure enough on the wall.
Drill 2 holes in the shelf, put steel anchors in the wall and then drill the screw from the other side into the steel anchor and it is very secure.

this was used to mount our wifi booster and was very easy to install…I changed the mounting anchors to a more robust kind as the booster was (is) fairly heavy…the shelf works great..
